Obituary for George William "Bill" Satterly

George William "Bill" Satterly
GEORGE W. SATTERLY
July 28, 1926 – June 7, 2018
Cornwall, NY

G. William Satterly, of Cornwall, NY entered into eternal rest on June 7, 2018 at St. Luke’s Cornwall Hospital, Newburgh, NY. He was 91 years old.

The son of the late George S. Satterly and Caroline (Chase) Satterly, George was born on July 28, 1926 in Newburgh, NY.

George “Bill” was the retired Owner of J & B Satterly Construction in Cornwall, NY.

He was an active member of the Bethlehem Presbyterian Church, volunteering many hours to the physical upkeep of the buildings and grounds. He was a fixture at the annual church fair and barbeque. He also served as an Elder and Trustee. A family statement reads: “Dad was a religious man. He lived by his faith. He also had a sense of adventure and taught us to love the outdoors – to ski, hike, bike, snowshoe and canoe. His entertaining stories were full of humor and he often laughed the hardest. He will be missed greatly.

In addition to his parents, George was predeceased by his loving wife, Vivian J. (Smith) Satterly. He is survived by his daughters: Karen L. Staples of Cornwall, NY and Faye A. Satterly of Charlottesville, VA; his son: Donald W. Satterly of Newburgh, NY; 6 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren; and his sister: Mary Rice of Goshen, NY.

A service will be held at 10:30 am on Saturday, June 23rd at the Bethlehem Presbyterian Church, on the corner of Rte. 94 and Jackson Avenue in Salisbury Mills. Rev. Martha Carlson will officiate.

Memorial Contributions in Bill’s name may be made to the Bethlehem Presbyterian Church.
