Obituary for Virginia M. Buinicky (Parrotto)

Virginia M. Buinicky (Parrotto)
September 16, 1929 – November 10, 2017
Goshen, NY

Virginia M. Buinicky, of Goshen, NY entered into eternal rest on November 10, 2017 at The Valley View Center for Nursing & Rehabilitation in Goshen, NY. She was 88 years old.

The daughter of the late Frank Parrotto and Esther (Valenti) Parrotto, Virginia was born on September 16, 1929 in Weathersfield, VT.

Virginia was a retired Telephone Operator for Texaco Research Center in Glenham, NY.

Mom was a kind and generous woman who touched many lives in her 88 years. While raising nine children with Dad, she also managed to keep tabs on elderly neighbors who were alone, bringing them homemade goodies (or sending one of her children to deliver them, instilling charity in us at a very early age!) and visiting when she was able. Mom was a retired Switchboard Operator; during her years at St. Luke's Hospital in Newburgh and Texaco Research Center in Beacon, co-workers enjoyed her upbeat manner, as well as home-baked muffins nearly daily and special treats for holidays and birthdays. Mom was always very active; she was captain of both the basketball and field hockey teams at her high school, St. Mary's, in Claremont, N.H. She loved to dance and she and Dad would attend dances at Stewart Air Base in the 60's. Later, they traveled about, seeing the sites in our great country. Mom remained active in retirement and volunteered for Meals-on-Wheels, the Country Store in Washingtonville, and, fearing some of her fellow seniors might become shut-ins, she founded the Rocky Knoll Club, a senior social club in Washingtonville. We, her family, are inspired by Mom's gracious nature, strength, and energy and hope to carry her example forward in our lives. She was a wonderful daughter, wife, mother, and grandmother of 20, great-grandmother of 25, and friend, who will be sorely missed by all who knew and loved her. Rest in peace with Dad and Kate, Mom.

In addition to her parents, Virginia was predeceased by her loving husband Ernest P. Buinicky on April 8, 2016 and her daughter Kathryn (Buinicky) Geysen on September 29, 2017. She is survived by her children: Karen (Gary) of Gillett, PA, James (Elizabeth) of Runnemede, NJ, Jane of Newburgh, NY, Joan (Michael) of Concord, OH, John (Kimberly) of Dayton, OH, Janet (Michael) of Walden, NY, Judith of Albany, NY, Mary (Marc) of Sussex, NJ; her son-in-law: George Geysen of Rock Tavern; eighteen grandchildren and an ever-growing number of great-grandchildren.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 9:15 a.m. at St. Mary’s Church, 42 Goshen Avenue, Washingtonville, NY. Inurnment will follow at Orange County Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 111 Craigville Road, Goshen, NY.

Memorial Contributions in Virginia’s name may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, 2 Jefferson Street, Suite 103, Poughkeepsie, NY 12601 or to St. Patrick’s Soup Kitchen, 55 Grand Street, Newburgh, NY 12550.
